Paper Crane takes inspiration from the familiar silhouette of the tower crane and is constructed from 300 gsm card, relying upon innovative folding to create a structure from flexible material, into a rigid beam able to span 600mm. Paper Crane is a composition of triangular prisms, linked by eyelets which serve a dual purpose; providing rotational capabilities and allowing wiring throughout the structure.

Paper crane’s net form flatpacks into packaging constructed from three layers of boxboard, with a hollow middle panel. The packaging opens via a hinge eyelet in the corner; a reference to the construction of the light itself.
